mackenzie

I really enjoy getting to work with my friend Mackenzie, because most of the time it is work that we are doing for fun, and trying to make a learning process. We wanted to push ourselves to make some great images. I wanted shoot in some new ways, work on some different lighting techniques, and just learn. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do, because this is where I want to continue to go with my style. More to come on that front soon.

As for now, let me know what you think!

photos from my phone

As a photographer, there always seems to be a time that you feel like everything you shoot begins to look and feel the same. You start feeling complacent, and you never take the time to push yourself and try something to make yourself a better photographer. Anyway, I have been feeling like this a bit and have been working on some personal projects and shooting things that I have been wanting to work on, and doing it strictly for me. So I can feel creative and feel like I am really pushing myself.

So this brings me to one of my projects that I am really excited about. Inspired by Chase Jarvis and his mentality that the best camera is the one that's with you, I have started a photo blog called "Photos From My Phone", where I will be posting a photo from my iphone at least every day or couple days. For me it's just a way to always be looking at the world around me, trying to see it in a new light, and making photos. I always have my phone with me, so why not capture my life with the camera.

I also want this to be a place where you can express your creativity. I would love it if you would want to link your own photos in the comments section of the posts. You carry your phone everywhere... and most likely it has a camera on it. Use it, make something new. Enjoy the process. Extend your creativity. Try something different.

So please take a moment, and check the blog out. Bookmark it if you like it, and start contributing to the community! You guys rock!

i'm a pretty lucky guy...

I have to say, I am a pretty lucky guy... cause even at the age 24, I have a girlfriend that can't let go of the kid inside of her. Jumping on the bed on halloween. It's amazing.

And what's even better, we are sitting next to each other on our computers, listening to bluegrass music as I post this and she edits.

My friend Mackenzie and I, we get together and take photos. Thats what we do. We decided with this shoot to push ourselves and try things we don't normally do. Anyway, here is a frame from the shoot. More to come!

cori - senior session

Loved this senior session! Cori was a blast to work with and was super fun. She had a lot of great ideas, but the best being the zombie scene we did at the end. Cori is really big into horror movies, loves zombies, and acting. So this was a perfect moment to bring those all together. I love doing senior sessions like this. Out of the ordinary. And it really captures the personality of the individual!

photos from my phone...10.29.09

I was waiting at the bank to take care of some business the other day. As I was sitting there, I noticed the simplicity of this scene, so I captured it.

This was shot at my local grocery store. I think Erin and I were on an ice cream run. Ha!

city hall and more.

City Hall, Springfield MO.

I was driving to work the other day, stopped at a traffic light, looked to my left and saw this. Thought it was a nice play on lines. So I captured it.

Took this shot while I was at a wedding. Was walking around and saw this, so I snapped it.

Shots taken with my iphone.

i love the fall.

I have to say I really love the fall here in Missouri. There are not a lot of places on the globe that get to experience the change in color like we do. Its so beautiful. Today was one of those lucky days where it was rainy and overcast, lending itself to some beautiful light. So I definitely had to take advantage of it. I love it! What's your favorite season?

I really want to shoot some photos of a person laying in a bed of these fallen leaves. Hopefully I can accomplish that in the next few days!

a thanks. and some photos.

Hello friends. I really want to thank you for the support that you have been pouring out for Erin and her family. You have no idea how much of a blessing it is to them. It is helping lift the weight of this burden so much. You are changing lives. Thank you.

If you don't know what I am talking about, please take a moment and head to my girlfriends blog and read her post.

As for me, I have been trying to keep up with posting an iphone photo a day like I mentioned in a previous post.  You can find my iphone photos here.

This shot was grabbed at one of the convenient stores near my house. I love the fact that pay phones are still around.

Fall has been popping up everywhere. The colors are beautiful and the air has a chill to it. I grabbed this shot driving home.

I love the interplay of light and dark in this photo. Erin and I were cleaning our house, had all the windows open and the natural light cast this shadow on the curtains.

I have been playing with a new band for a few months now and I am really enjoying it. Here is a shot from practice the other day.

a hard season

There comes a time in our lives when we deal with something really big, and it feels like we will never be able to get out of it. This event is so overwhelming that it feels hopeless. We try to exhaust all avenues in an effort to make the situation better, just to try to find some peace and comfort. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If we are lucky, we have people around us that love and care for us in ways that we never imagined. So when our lives are turned upside down, they are there to help find some balance.

I would love it if you would take a moment and go read the post Erin has currently up on her blog. Some of her close family is going through a season in their lives where they are being overwhelmed by what is going on. And in an effort to support them, we are reaching out to whoever has a hand to help. Take a moment, read her blog, and do what you need to do. Anything helps.

I personally want thank you for taking the time to read this post, and hers. It means the world to us.
